Mumbai [India], Nov.7: The Congress party on Sunday slammed the Central government for making contradictory statements on the One Rank One Pension and also urged the present regime to pay attention to the needs of armed forces.  “It is very unfortunate that India lost more than 50 soldiers during the ceasefire violation from Pakistani side. Government should make extra efforts for taking care of the family of the martyr,” Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam told ANI here.
“They are fooling the soldiers on OROP. The entire Modi government is telling lies on the issue as Prime Minister Modi claims that OROP has been implemented, but on the other hand Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar says that he requires two months to sort out the issue. Don’t know who is right and who is wrong,” he added.

Delhi High Court Feels No One Should Run The Marathon Because Of The Hazardous Pollution Levels In The City

By Niharika shrinet

Pollution levels in Delhi are on a rise and yet again a marathon takes place despite the risks. The contestants braved the conditions and this happened after the city's High Court said that it was not safe.Well, you can't keep the enthusiasm down can you?

If you can run a marathon in Delhi you can run anywhere, the Delhi High Court said while referring to the "hazardous" air pollution levels here and suggested measures like immediate extinguishing of landfill fires and ensuring only CNG taxis enter the national capital to improve air quality. The court, however, asked the Delhi government to issue an advisory for the public informing them about the air quality which the bench noted contained pollutants four times more than the prescribed standard.Observing that factors like fires in landfill sites, stubble burning in neighbouring states of Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, plying of all India permit diesel cabs in the city, fireworks, road dust and construction work pollute the air, the bench issued a slew of directions to address each of them.Noting that Punjab government was "still in denial mode" regarding its contribution to air pollution in the city, the court directed it to file an affidavit, with specific timeline, "clear cut action plan" to "completely eliminate" stubble burning next year as it alone produces 17 million tonnes of straw, bulk of which was burned causing a spike in air pollution there as well as here.
On the issue of diesel cabs plying in the city, the court was told by amicus curiae, senior advocate Kailash Vasdev, that of the 1,84,000 taxis in the city, 88,623 were running on diesel. Of these 40,000 were city based while the remaining were all India permit taxis coming from other states.

Description: Chikungunya, Dengue Claim 33 Lives In Delhi, Health Crisis Deepens
"Two elderly persons, both aged above 70 and belonging to Delhi, died on September 15 of chikungunya complications at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital (SGRH). One of them suffered from hypertension while the other had kidney problems," a hospital source said.
The number of deaths from chikungunya complications at SGRH has climbed to seven, the highest at any hospital in the city. Out of the 15 deaths, Apollo Hospital has reported five, while AIIMS, Hindu Rao Hospital and PSRI recorded one death each. Gulab Chand Gupta (70) from Lajpat Nagar in south Delhi, died on September 12, a family member Friday said.
"He was admitted at Pushpawati Singhania Research Institute (PSRI) in south Delhi on September 7 and succumbed to chikungunya complications on September 12. His medical report says he died of acute febrile illness with septic shock and multi-organ failure," his son-in-law Santosh Mangal said.
Chikungunya and dengue have claimed at least 33 lives and affected nearly 3,000 people in Delhi. 18 people have died of dengue which has affected over 1,100 people in the city. The Centre had Friday sought a detailed report from the Delhi government on deaths due to it and dengue, including medical history of the deceased.
The Delhi government has also asked private hospitals not to release data on vector-borne disease cases ‘directly to the press’, which may ‘create panic’. In the wake of chikungunya outbreak, the Delhi government has initiated the process for declaring chikungunya as a notifiable and dangerous disease. Doctors say that chikungunya is not a life-threatening disease in general, but in rare cases leads to complications that prove fatal, especially in children and elderly persons.

Phagun...........
